Cervical Cytology
Infection, Inflammation regeneration and repair

Regenerative changes are characterised by sheets of columnar and immature metaplastic cells with large nuclei and  several prominent nucleoli or chromocentre reflecting recent mitotic activity. Note that one nucleus is slightly larger than the others but this degree of anisonucleosis is to be expected in regenerating epithelium. The chromatin content is very bland and reflecting the benign nature of the cells.
