Nuclear pseudoinclusions may be seen (MGG). In some centres serum calcitonin is measured at the same time as the FNA is obtained, therefore making interpretation of such findings easier. Immunocytochemistry for calcitonin and absence of thyroglobulin will establish the diagnosis.
