Cervical cytology :

 

This package provides a program of training in  cervical  cancer  screening and covers the following topics:

  • The female genital tract
  • Anatomy, histology, and physiology of the cervix
  • Cervical cancer : epidemiology, aetiology .pathogenesis and main histological types
  • The Pap test : principles of collection and preparation of specimens. Laboratory organisation, screening and reporting cervical smears.
  • The normal cervical smear
  • Infection, inflammation and repair, iatrogenic changes contaminants and artifacts
  • Neoplastic changes in cervical smears
  • Human pappilomaviruses, and cervical cancer
  • Liquid based cytology, automation
  • Quality assurance
  • Health and safety guidelines

The package also includes a large reference library of cervical cytology and a series of graded self assessment tests.

Training package 2

Non-Gynaecological cytology:

 

This package will provide a program of training in non gynaecological cytology and include chapters of the following topics :

  • The cytological presentation of diseases of the respiratory tract , urinary tract which will include information relevant to the collection and preparation  of specimens, a description of normal and abnormal cytological findings and the corresponding  histological findings
  • The cytology of body fluids including cysts , effusions and cerebrospinal fluids.
  • The cytology of fine needle aspirates from palpable and non palpable lesions from a wide range of body sites and the histological basis of the diseases illustrated.
  • A large reference library of  non gynaecological specimens
  • Self assessment test
